Description
An early picking of the prized asatsuyu cultivar tea leaves from tea farmer Matsuo Masatoshi’s tea garden. This cultivar is called a “natural gyokuro” because of the naturally high level of sweetness it produces in comparison to Yabukita leaves.

Steeping Recommendation
- Tea: 3-5 grams (more tea for a bolder brew)
- Time: 60 sec (10-15 sec, on 2nd; 30-60 sec on 3rd steeping)
- Water: 70C/158F, 200 ml (hotter temp for a more bitter brew)
- Resteep 2-3x
About the Tea Farmer
In addition to a multi-award winner of the minister’s award given to winning teas at tea competition, Matsuo Masatoshi has also won the prestigious emperor’s cup, chosen by the government each year from all farms across Japanese agriculture industry.
